Wander Engine Content Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-23
Wander Engine hosts worlds that people make for each other: stories, places, characters, and conversations. Some are for everyone, and some are for adults only. This policy says what is allowed, what never is, and what happens when something goes wrong. It applies to everything on Wander Engine: what owners write, what players say and build, and what AI generates in a world, including images.
Two kinds of world
Every world has a rating, set when it is created (see the Terms of Service, section 5).
- A world rated adult is for people 18 and older, and asks Discord to confirm that each person is an adult before they can sign in. It may contain sexual content and other material meant only for adults.
- A world that is not rated adult is open to anyone old enough to use Wander Engine, which can mean people as young as 13. It must not contain sexual content or nudity, graphic gore, or anything else meant only for adults. Fiction in it can still have conflict, danger, and villains.
If a world that isn't rated adult contains adult content, we may rate it adult or take it down.
What is allowed
- Adult fiction between adults, in worlds rated adult. Sexual and other mature content is allowed there, as long as every character involved is an adult and the rest of this policy is followed.
- Dark themes in fiction. Violence, horror, villainy, and difficult subjects are part of storytelling, and fiction is allowed to be uncomfortable. In a world rated adult it can go further than in one that isn't. A villain may say hateful things in a story, as long as the story isn't a cover for attacking real people.
- Your own world's rules. An owner may set stricter rules for their world than this policy does. They may not set looser ones.
What is never allowed
These rules apply everywhere, in every world, rated adult or not, and no fictional framing, disclaimer, or "they're really a thousand years old" changes them. Fiction can be dark. Real people are protected.
- Nothing sexual involving minors. No sexual or sexualized content involving anyone under 18, or any character who is described as, presented as, or appears to be under 18, in text, images, or anything else. This includes AI-generated images, and "aged-up" or "aged-down" versions of characters. We report child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), as US law requires.
- No sexual content about real people. No sexual content, written or generated, that depicts or names a real, identifiable person, including sexual "deepfakes" and other faked images. This covers celebrities, public figures, other players, and people you know.
- No intimate images shared without consent. No real intimate images of anyone shared without their consent, and no material showing a real person in a sexual act they did not agree to.
- No targeting real people. Fiction may explore consent within a story between fictional adults, but you may not use Wander Engine to harass, humiliate, or target a real person. In a shared scene, other players' limits matter: if someone asks you to stop, stop.
- No doxxing. Don't share anyone's private information, such as real names, addresses, workplaces, photos, Discord identities, or anything that could identify or locate them, without their clear permission. This includes what an owner can see about their visitors.
- Nothing illegal. No content that is illegal in the United States, where Wander Engine is run and hosted, and no use of Wander Engine to plan or carry out a crime. You are also responsible for following the law where you live.
- No threats or incitement. No real threats of violence, and no encouragement of real-world violence, self-harm, or terrorism.
- No hate aimed at real people. No content that attacks or promotes hatred of real people or groups for who they are, such as their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
- No malware, scams, or attacks. No links or content meant to deceive people, steal accounts or money, or attack Wander Engine or anyone's device.
- No infringing content. Don't post material you don't have the right to use (see the Terms of Service, section 9, for copyright complaints).
Owners are responsible for their worlds
If you own a world, you are responsible for what is in it: what you write, what your players build, and what AI generates there. You agree to:
- rate your world honestly, and ask us to change the rating before adding adult content to a world that isn't rated adult;
- keep your world within this policy;
- act on reports from your players, using the tools you have (you can ban, kick, and mute players in your world);
- tell us about anything in the "never allowed" list that you find, especially anything involving a minor;
- use your visitors' Discord identities only to run and moderate your world.
AI in worlds
AI is optional, and each owner decides whether their world uses it. When it is used, the same rules apply to AI output as to anything written by hand. Asking the AI to make something on the "never allowed" list breaks this policy whether or not the AI goes along with it. The AI provider may also refuse some requests under its own rules.
How to report something
- Something in a world: tell the world's owner first if you're comfortable doing so. They can act fastest in their own world.
- Anything serious, or the owner won't act, or it's about the owner: write to us at support@wanderengine.app. Include the world's address, what you saw, where and when, and the names of the characters involved. You don't have to give your own name.
- A child in danger, or someone at risk of harm: contact your local emergency services first, then us. You can also report child sexual abuse material directly to NCMEC's CyberTipline.
We read every report. We may not be able to tell you what we did about it, but we will act on what breaks this policy. When someone asks us to remove a real intimate image of them shared without their consent, or a sexual deepfake of them, we remove it within 48 hours of a valid request.
What we may do
When content or behavior breaks this policy, we may:
- remove or hide the content;
- warn the person responsible;
- ban a player from a world, or from all of Wander Engine;
- rate a world adult, which turns on its adult check;
- suspend a world (take it offline), or delete it;
- decline a person's future world requests;
- keep evidence and report to the authorities where the law requires it, or where someone may be in danger.
We decide based on how serious it is, whether it was deliberate, and whether it has happened before. Anything involving a minor, or intimate images or sexual content of a real person, is removed as soon as we know about it, and the world or account may be removed with it.
If you think we got a decision wrong, write to us at support@wanderengine.app and we will look at it again.
Changes
We may update this policy as Wander Engine grows. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top.
