Wander Engine Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-10-23
These terms are an agreement between you and the people who run Wander
Engine ("we", "us"). They cover the website at wanderengine.app, the worlds
made with its "Create a world" service (each at its own address, such as
<name>.wanderengine.app), and the tools we provide for making and running
those worlds.
By using Wander Engine you agree to these terms, to our Content Policy, and to how we handle information as our Privacy Policy describes. If you don't agree, please don't use Wander Engine.
1. What Wander Engine is
Wander Engine hosts text worlds. A world owner creates a world, and players visit it, walk around it, talk to each other, and, if the owner allows it, build in it. Each world is run by its owner. We run the platform underneath: the hosting, the sign-in, and the tools.
Every world has a rating. A world is either rated adult, which means it may contain sexual and other content meant only for adults, or it is not, in which case it must be suitable for everyone old enough to use Wander Engine.
2. How old you must be
To use Wander Engine at all, you must be at least 13 years old. If the law where you live sets a higher minimum age for using an online service like this one without a parent's permission (for example, 16 in some European countries), you must be at least that age. If you are under 18, you need your parent's or guardian's permission to use Wander Engine and to agree to these terms.
To visit or own a world rated adult, you must be at least 18 years old, and old enough to view adult content where you live.
By using Wander Engine you tell us that you meet these rules.
How the adult check works. A world rated adult asks Discord to confirm
that you are an adult before you can sign in to it. This applies to everyone,
including the world's owner. You confirm by running the /verify command
from the Wander Engine app in Discord, which Discord only lets accounts it
treats as adults use. The check is Discord's judgment of your account. It is
a safeguard, not a check of your identity, and it does not change the rule
above. A world that is not rated adult has no adult check.
3. Signing in
You sign in with your Discord account. We don't offer passwords or other ways to sign in, so you also need to meet Discord's own rules, including its minimum age. You are responsible for what happens under your Discord account on Wander Engine, so keep it secure.
Each world is separate. Signing in to a world creates an account in that world, linked to your Discord account. The world's owner can see who you are on Discord (see section 6 and our Privacy Policy).
4. Rules for everyone
You agree to follow our Content Policy, which says what is allowed on Wander Engine and what never is. You also agree not to:
- harass, threaten, stalk, or impersonate anyone;
- share anyone's private information (doxxing), including information you learned about someone through Wander Engine, such as their Discord identity;
- spam, or use automated tools to flood a world or the site;
- break into, overload, or interfere with Wander Engine, a world, or another person's account, or try to get around the adult check, a ban, or any other safeguard;
- use Wander Engine to break the law.
Each world may also have its own rules. The owner sets them and enforces them in that world, as long as they don't conflict with these terms.
5. If you own a world
Creating a world is a request. We review requests and may approve or decline any of them. When we approve one, we host it for you.
As a world owner, you agree that:
- You are responsible for your world. That includes what you write in it, what you let players build in it, what AI generates in it at your or your players' request, what any tools you connect to it do, and the rules you set.
- You will rate your world honestly. When you request a world you say whether it will contain adult content, and that answer sets its rating. If a world that isn't rated adult comes to need adult content, you must ask us to change its rating first. A world rated adult has the adult check described in section 2, and is tagged "Adult" in the world directory.
- You will keep your world within the Content Policy, and act on reports you get about it.
- You will treat what you learn about your visitors with care. Your world shows you your visitors' Discord identities. You may use them only to run and moderate your world. You may not publish them, share them, use them to contact or track people outside your world without their consent, or use them to expose anyone.
- You will not use Wander Engine to collect personal information from players beyond what running your world needs.
6. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, who can see it, and how to ask us to delete it. In short: we need your Discord identity to sign you in, and every world you visit, and that world's owner, can see it.
7. AI features
AI is optional and set per world. When a world uses it, the text and images are produced by outside AI providers, named in our Privacy Policy. AI output can be wrong, strange, or not what you asked for. You are responsible for what you ask the AI to make, and the Content Policy applies to AI output exactly as it applies to anything you write by hand.
8. Your content
You keep whatever rights you have in what you write and build. By putting it on Wander Engine, you give us permission to store it, copy it, display it, and back it up, only as needed to run the platform and the world you put it in. This permission ends when the content is deleted, except for copies in backups until they expire (see the Privacy Policy).
If you build in someone else's world, you keep your rights in what you made, and you give that world's owner permission to keep, show, change, copy, and remove it as part of their world, including in a copy of the world they download. If you are a world owner, you are responsible for having the rights to everything in your world.
You must have the right to everything you put on Wander Engine. Don't upload or paste material you don't have permission to use.
9. Copyright complaints
If you believe something on Wander Engine infringes your copyright, write to us at support@wanderengine.app with: what the work is, where on Wander Engine the copy is, your contact details, a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized, and a statement that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or are allowed to act for them. If the notice is valid we will remove or disable the material and tell the person who posted it, and we will consider a counter-notice if they send one. We will end the access of people who infringe repeatedly.
10. What we may do
To keep Wander Engine safe and legal, we may, with or without notice:
- remove or hide content;
- suspend or ban a player, from one world or from the whole platform;
- suspend, take offline, or delete a world;
- rate a world adult, which turns on its adult check;
- decline or withdraw a world request;
- report content to the authorities where the law requires it, or where someone may be in danger.
We will try to tell you what we did and why, unless the law, someone's safety, or an ongoing investigation stops us. If you think we got it wrong, write to us at support@wanderengine.app and we will look at it again.
World owners can also ban, kick, and mute players in their own worlds.
11. Ending your use
You can stop using Wander Engine at any time and ask us to delete your information (see the Privacy Policy). A world owner can download a copy of their world, and delete it, from the "My worlds" page.
We may end your access, or take a world down, if you break these terms or the Content Policy, if the law requires it, or if we stop running Wander Engine. If we stop running Wander Engine, we will try to give world owners at least 30 days' notice, so they can download a copy of their world first.
12. Payment
Wander Engine is free to use today. If we introduce paid plans, we will tell you the price and terms before anything is charged, and nothing will be charged unless you agree to it.
13. No guarantees
We run Wander Engine with care, but we provide it "as is" and "as available". Worlds can go offline, lose recent changes, or change. We don't promise that Wander Engine will always be available, error-free, or suited to any particular purpose. We don't review every world or every message, and we are not responsible for what world owners and players write, build, or generate.
14. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, or for lost data, profits, or goodwill. Our total liability to you for any claim about Wander Engine is limited to the greater of US$100 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Some places don't allow some of these limits. Where that is the case, they apply only as far as the law allows, and nothing in these terms takes away rights that the consumer laws where you live give you and that can't be waived.
15. Disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes about Wander Engine go to the state or federal courts located in California, unless the consumer laws where you live give you the right to bring them in your local courts. Before going to court, please write to us so we can try to sort it out.
16. Changes
We may change these terms. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top. If a change matters, we will try to give notice on the site before it takes effect. If you keep using Wander Engine after a change takes effect, the new terms apply.
